Tending One’s Garden

Graham Jeffrey from the University of the West of Scotland just sent me a link to an article by Rebecca Solnit entitled The Revolution Has Already Occurred. She argues that old style revolutions are gone and that there are a series of new revolutions occurring all around us, particularly in local gardening and food production – “At its best, tending one’s garden leads to tending one’s community and policy, and ultimately becomes a way of entering the public sphere rather than withdrawing from it.” It’s a great comment and something to live by if you’re starting a gardening project in an arts centre.
