Glasgay! Hair I Am

Glasgay! Hair I Am by Helen Cuinn

Wednesday 4 November - Thursday 5 November 2009

Hair today, gone tomorrow. Not for me, my friend. My hair is my biggest brightest feature, the first thing anyone notices and the key to describing me to strangers but is it really an indicator of who I am. Beautiful, bountiful, barmy bag o tricks, I’ll never be bald, bloody barnet fair, I’m in it for the long haul, Hair I am because I am!

Hair I Am is Helen Cuinn’s new studio theatre piece developed for Glasgay!  Falling under the umbrella project the Hair on my Head is Dead, it continues Cuinn’s exploration into all things red hair related and takes stereotypes of ginger women as its starting point and major beef.  The piece has been developed in conjunction with Dance House and the CCA.

Helen Cuinn is a performer and writer.  Her other major project for 2009, Looking for Laura Quinn, was recently shown at the Coachwerks festival,
Brighton and at New Works New Worlds, Glasgow.  She is a regular contributor to the Scottish cabaret/spoken word scene and has performed at the Arches, Carnegie Hall, the CCA, the Traverse and the Tron.
