Inventive and eclectic, ‘Irish folk singer, composer and musician Nuala Kennedy is a brand name in her adopted homeland of Scotland’ (Folkworld). Nuala grew up playing the traditional music of her native Co. Louth in the north east of Ireland, an area steeped in mythology and with strong historical links to Scotland. Her music has been described as ‘upbeat, light-filled, utterly beguiling’ (Songlines Magazine).

Just returned from a year in Brooklyn, New York, she has worked with a diverse range of musicians including Will Oldham, Norman Blake, Ziggy Campbell and Oliver Schroer. Noble Stranger is her third solo record, released on Nashville's Compass Records. It returns to her Irish roots and includes several interpretations of well known traditional songs. She appears with her dynamic touring band featuring the inimitable Donald Hay on percussion, Iain Macleod on mandolin and Michael Bryan on guitar plus a special guest appearance by Appalachian poet troubadour AJ Roach.

From plaintive ancient Gaelic songs, and alt. songwriting, and progressive traditional dance music, “A delicious mix of influences abound, without ever sacrificing musical identity” ****THE IRISH TIMES
"Stunning Irish traditional music with a twist" ****Maverick Music Magazine
