Zoology

A life of quiet desperation is transformed into something much less ordinary in this captivating contemporary fairytale from Class Corrections director Ivan Tverdovsky. Natasha (Natalia Pavlenkova) works at a zoo and has more friends amongst the animals than amongst her vile colleagues. When she starts to grow a tail, it is the best thing that has ever happened to her. She becomes confident and outgoing, attracting the attention of younger doctor Petya (Dmitri Groshev), but there are hefty consequences of standing out from the crowd in Putin’s Russia. A plaintive, thought-provoking work.
