SQIFF
Shorts: Defiant Dykes

Sat 30 September 2017

Proudly presenting dykes defying society, each other, themselves, and the demands and expectations of both hetero and queer culture. A feisty granny drags her granddaughter out of the closet, 3 Butch/Femme and Stud/Fem lesbian couples from working-class backgrounds share fragments from their lives, a 17-year-old from a West Bank settlement goes to a gay club for the first time, a child visits their working-class butch great aunt, a Deaf couple get into a storming signing fight on their honeymoon, and a rapper and breakdancer explores their identity.

We hope to be joined by several of the filmmakers for a Q&A.

BSL interpretation for discussion. All films with English language subtitles. SQIFF 2017 tickets are priced on a sliding scale; please choose what to pay based on your circumstances.
