A Sprouting Thing: Writing Workshop with Rosa Campbell
Fri 26 April 2024
Wheelchair accessible
Relaxed event

“Epipremnum aureum, devil's ivy, or (somewhat erroneously) pothos is not special. It is not symbolically useful, it is not rare, it is not hard to grow or care for. But in the aftermath of unexpected death, an impossible-to-kill houseplant might have something to say about keeping going.”
Join a writing workshop hosted by poet and scholar Rosa Campbell, and explore storytelling, plants and grief in a small group.
Rosa Campbell is the author of Pothos (Broken Sleep Books, 2021), a lyric essay on ‘grief and houseplants’. Rosa is also an academic and specialises in twentieth and twenty-first century American women and queer writers. She recently edited a collection of poetry by little-known V. R. ‘Bunny’ Lang, The Miraculous Season: Selected Poems (Carcanet, 2024). Rosa is based in Edinburgh.
All welcome, no previous writing experience is necessary. You will have the opportunity to create your own work, which you can choose to include in a publication produced by Glasgow Seed Library later this year.
Tickets are available on a sliding scale, from £0-£6 – please pay no more than what you can afford. If you would like to read Rosa Campbell’s book Pothos, you can purchase a copy at Aye Aye Books, CCA, or read for free in the Reading Room in an upcoming Seed Study session.
This workshop is part of a series curated by Glasgow Seed Library’s 2024 researcher in residence, Tilly Nevin, and supported by Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities.
