Samizdat Eastern European Film Festival presents a screening of Acasâ, My Home (Acasâ) as part of its inaugural edition in 2022. Directed by Radu Ciorniciuc, this powerful debut documentary has been featured in the programmes of Sundance 2020 and IDFA 2020.
Acasâ, My Home tells about the Enache family’s struggle to adapt to urban life after being forcibly moved from their idyllic home in the Bucharest Delta. The documentary presents a moving, lyrical portrait of the family’s plight against the Romanian state, its bureaucratic structures, and the racism they face both socially and institutionally.
Samizdat is supported by Film Hub Scotland, part of the BFI’s Film Audience Network, and funded by Screen Scotland and National Lottery funding from the BFI. It is jointly funded by the European Cultural Foundation (Culture of Solidarity Fund — Ukraine Special Edition).
