Every month in 2016 BUZZCUT are presenting a double bill of performance from wild and provocative artists from Scotland and beyond. Bringing the ethos and spirit of their annual performance festival in Govan, this monthly programme will bring together artists and audiences from various backgrounds to see radical, experimental performance.

Hosted by the BUZZCUT team with their usual chaotic charm and warmth, these events will be a regular opportunity to see experimental performance in Glasgow and hang out in the bar after!

BUZZCUT is a Glasgow based, artist led organisation dedicated to opening up new spaces for performance to happen, bringing new audiences to live art, and creating new opportunities for artists to make and share work.

Hunt and Darton: Boredom

Boredom is an exploration into the highs and lows of being bored. Embrace it, combat it or simply acknowledge it, boredom affects all of us at some time or other, which we find that rather interesting. Blending multi media, story telling and performance art Boredom sets the pace with new moves, some wise words, 'you do it bits', Holly's bored face and lots of visual stimuli in case anyone, well, gets bored. We think it us a good idea to get bored and actively encourage you do to. It might just change your life.

Hunt & Darton are a Live Art Collaboration between Jenny Hunt and Holly Darton. We have both practiced Art since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2003 and been working together for 8 years. Approaching Live Art from a Fine Art background we work across mediums with a sculptural approach to performance, choreographing words and movement in a sensory way and setting up alternative spaces – often creating installations to perform within. Our work derives from our shared celebrations and anxieties surrounding life choices particularly as women, in Britain, now.

Our work has been described as deadpan and absurd, often collapsing into humour. We have a persistent fetish within our practice to consistently re-assess our relationship with our audience, embracing awkward moments, risk taking and constantly trying to close the gap between performer and viewer opting for a raw, underdone, conversational aesthetic.

Steven Anderson: Warmed air

In the teaching of anatomy, images, models and human specimens are examined to build understanding about the body. In this performance representations of living bodies are carefully performed with to embody a timeframe of living. Specimens were people who made aesthetic choices. The sun is the most perfect sphere.

This performance leads from ongoing research at the department of anatomy at Edinburgh University. Thanks to John Clark, Ruth Pollitt and Malcolm MacCallum for their collaboration and support.

Steven Anderson makes paintings and performance about ritual actions surrounding the materiality and timeframe of art objects. Having graduated from Painting at Glasgow School of Art and an MFA in Dundee, he frequently works in medical and educational contexts in addition to studio practice. Past projects include performances at the Arbuthnot Museum, Peacock Arts, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Tramway and Catalyst Arts.
