CCA is temporarily and partially closed from December 2024 to March 2025 to focus on restructuring and financial recovery.
Third Eye Bar
We’re delighted that Third Eye Bar will remain open throughout this time! We’ve had so many memorable nights in the bar this year, from iconic DJ sets and karaoke to zine workshops, open mics, and wine tastings. Over the next few months, we’ll keep the party going with even more events, new drink selections, exciting collaborations and plenty of vibes as we look forward to CCA’s reopening.
Every visit to the bar makes a difference — earnings from the bar directly support the development of our programme and will help maintain our building and staff team during the closure.
Planning a winter night out? Get in touch with our Bar Manager to book your night. The bar will remain open until December 21 before taking a short winter break and reopening on January 7. To stay up to date with what’s on, follow @third_eye_bar.
Common Ground
Common Ground will continue its vital work supporting people from forced migrant backgrounds through a variety of workshops and activities.
These include Flavour, a workshop series celebrating the creativity of food, where participants share dishes, cooking practices and stories; Common Sound, a music workshop series created in collaboration with The Sound Lab; and Art for Artists by Sadaf, a beginner-friendly art-making series. To combat the isolation that winter often brings, Common Ground will also host Winter Walks, encouraging movement and social connection through guided walking sessions.
You can reach Common Ground via phone, text, or WhatsApp at 07756288837, email them at commonground@cca-glasgow.com, or follow @commonground_gla to stay updated and get involved.
Glasgow Seed Library
During the winter closure, Glasgow Seed Library will take up residence at The Hidden Gardens in Pollokshields. Starting in January, you’ll be able to browse and borrow seeds from the seed cabinet and participate in Seed Dreams and seed-sorting sessions.
Springtime events will be listed on both the CCA and The Hidden Gardens websites, including a fundraising screening for the Revive Gaza Farmland campaign, a stall at Glasgow Allotment Forum’s annual Potato Day, and a Seedy Social or two. Planted in this Land will also continue in December, focusing on land justice in Sápmi (online) and Morocco (in-person at Milk Café), all welcome.
The Seed Library are also hiring a new Seed Librarian, seeking a collaborative and curious colleague to support community-based seed growing and contribute to a nourishing and just seed culture in the city.
You can follow @glasgowseedlib and reach them at glasgowseedlibrary@cca-glasgow.com.
Schools and Young People
The first year of CCA’s Schools and Young People Programme reached over 900 young people across Glasgow.
Nine primary school classes participated in workshops that brought the themes of our main exhibition to the classroom. Pupils explored contemporary ways of making, creating maps, buildings and guides to an imagined city. We welcomed seventeen secondary school groups to CCA, where they toured exhibitions and participated in creative workshops. Most recently, pupils have loved relaxing in Debi Banerjee’s Jalsaghar and making clay pots representing Glasgow and our heritages.
During the closure, we’ll continue to deliver the programme off-site, continuing our aim to improve access to contemporary art to young people. The Schools and Young People Programme is shaped by the needs and interests of young people, and we’d love to hear your feedback. Get in touch with our Learning Coordinator to let us know what events or activities you’d like to see in the coming year.
Programme Partners
CCA’s open-source programming means that we share our building and resources with organisations and artists throughout the city. This year alone, we hosted over 700 events in collaboration with more than 100 programme partners — from festivals and performances to gigs, workshops, and more.
While our doors are temporarily closed, we’ll continue to support our programme partners by promoting their events on our website. Be sure to check the listings and confirm the locations of each event for programmes that will be temporarily re-homed until Spring.
You can find our shops Welcome Home at Tramway or online, and Aye-Aye Books will be popping up at Glasgow School of Art.
We reopen April 2025
Thank you for standing by us during this challenging time. Your patience, support, and solidarity mean the world to us. We’ll keep you updated as we prepare to reopen. Until then, we hope to see you for a pint at Third Eye Bar — and if not, we can’t wait to welcome you back in April 2025.
