Crazy About Carol / Muerto Por Carol - Mother and Baby Screening
Tender, moving story about Carol - a pre-pubescent black girl who moves to a new neighbourhood and finds friendship and love with a local white boy - Rito. But the young couple have to contend with racial prejudice as not everybody approves - especially their parents and grandparents - marring the cloud that usually accompanies first love.
As well as racial discrimination, Lili Romero (screenwriter) and Heiking Hernández (director) show us how machismo, regionalism and gender roles continue to cause conflict in Cuba today. Although they pretend to go unnoticed by many, they are issues that need greater debate and understanding by all.
