Through collaborative and live processes Shallcross’ work employs existing frameworks to create space for alternative forms of pedagogy and representation. This residency will be used as a space to experiment with different compositional set ups, live and recorded actions, and the voice as feedback.

Friday walks - 17 & 24 July

Friday Walk - 24th July

This Friday the walk will leave the CCA reception at 2pm. The group will head to Queens Street Station to catch the train to Dumbarton East (£4.90 return). The walk will continue from the station up past Overton House and onto part of the Kilpatrick Hills. Please wear suitable clothing (waterproofs & walking boots). We will aim to return to Glasgow Queen Street for 6.30pm(ish).

Thanks to all those who came along to the walk last week to Palacerigg and Fannyside Loch. The walk began with a reading on the train of the text 'Against Ordinary Language: The Language of the Body' by Kathy Acker.

During this Creative Lab residency, Claire will be hosting two Friday walks related to her research conducted throughout the month.

The walks are open for anyone to attend: details of times and destination will be posted here and through CCA's social media channels on the Wednesday before each walk.

Each walk will depart from the reception foyer of CCA and will be accessible by public transport. Details of public transport costs and approximate duration of the walk will be stated before hand also. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

To receive details of walks by email, please contact: shallcross.claire@gmail.com

The Friday walk series started last August and has been running most Friday's for the past 10 months. The idea behind the walks has been to allow whoever is present the opportunity to discuss concerns in relation to their practice and current thoughts, whether it be a concern raised that week or a reoccurring theme or problem. The durational aspect of the walk encourages meandering discussion and provides a space for processing thought away from the city, home or studio.

For the month of July, Claire will be changing the format of the walks slightly by providing a framework for each walk, loosely framing discussions but not tying them down to a specific theme. Details will be provided on the Wednesday prior to each walk.
