Sogol Mabadi - Invitation no. 1: Home Visits

Sogol Mabadi will, through performance and private home visits, explore ‘veiling’ as a conduit that enables proximity through separation. In order to obtain an intimate sense/taste of the Other, we resist verbal communication and eye-contact, and investigate the formation of boundaries. How might this experience shift the perceived images of the Other? Does gender play a role in the act of ‘veiling’: do men ‘veil’, and if so, how?

The acts of slowing down and of silence are integral to Sogol´s performances. She explores the inherent challenges of this endeavour in a time where speed and the spilling and dissolving of boundaries are of the essence.
