Cryptic Nights: Materials and duration 1.2 - Artist Talk with Heather Lander

Heather Lander
Questioning magic, illusion and the idea of the physical versus the virtual, Materials and duration 1.2 is a development of artist Heather Lander’s award-winning work from her 2015 G.S.A. MFA Degree Show.
Playing with our perceptions of space, this imaginative video installation moves between light and dark, silence and sound to challenge our understanding of physicality and its perpetual movement through time. Featuring newly commissioned orchestral compositions from sound artist and musician Pete Sach, the experience is heightened through intermittent bursts of music that at times overwhelm the room or are heard as distant reverberations.
“The piece mesmerizes and is a beautiful experience to gaze at and be part of in the space.” Blair Thomson, Artist
