Elín Jakobsdóttir
Elín Jakobsdoóttir presents a selection of short films produced over the last ten years in conversation with Alex Hetherington of Modern Edinburgh Film School.
Jakobsdóttir is a painter and filmmaker who works between Berlin and Glasgow. Her work combines drawing, paper cut-outs, painting, sculptural objects and film. Shot in Super 8 and 16mm, her silent films tend towards experimental artist’s cinema, playing with extremely condensed situations, recurring events, and distortions of time.
Recent solo exhibitions include; Looping Lexicon / Krome Gallery Luxembourg 2015-16, Eyes Cast / Leeds Art Gallery 2014-15.
Recent group shows include; Fiction Dacha Folly/Art Cologne 2014, Frames/CCA/Glasgow International 2014, Folding Unfolding Space/Cubus-M Galerie Berlin 2014, Drawing Biennial/Drawing Room London 2013 & 2015, Drifting/House of World Cultures, Berlin 2013
Film commissions include; Leeds Museums and Art Galleries 2014,The Louvre Museum/Paris 2004, Stills/Edinburgh 2009.
In April 2016 she received a Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant
