Cuba, Scotland, Spain – three countries empowered by women activists, and three countries connected by the Feminist Film Project.

Currently, women activists in Matanzas and Havana, Cuba; Villanova, Catalunya, Spain; and Glasgow, Scotland, are using low-budget collaborative filmmaking techniques to amplify women’s voices across borders.

Catalysed at Havana Glasgow Film Festival 2022, this event provides an opportunity for people to gain an insight into collective grassroots filmmaking practices, with activists and filmmakers discussing their works in progress.

Audiences will hear about works which explore themes including slavery linking Cuba and Catalunya; how cities are being planned by and for women; innovative approaches to Period Dignity in Glasgow and how that compares to Cuba and Spain; and experiences of migrant women across the three countries.

With the final films to be screened at Havana Glasgow Film Festival’s special 10th anniversary event in 2025, this event provides a unique opportunity for audiences to gather around the table with grass-roots activists and filmmakers and be part of the collective process of amplifying women’s voices through film.
