Disappearance of Napadid Shodan
A young couple’s relationship is tested through a long night of moral dilemmas and impossible choices in Ali Asgari’s auspicious feature debut. One winter’s night in Tehran, teenage architecture student Sara (Sadaf Asgari) arrives at a hospital emergency department claiming to have been raped. Her brother arrives to offer support but there is something about the situation that doesn’t ring true. As we learn what is really going on, Asgari draws out the wider resonance from individual heartache, deftly capturing the pressures of an unyielding, unforgiving society.
