Life and Nothing More
Taking inspiration from the rich humanity of Italian neorealism and the rigour of Robert Bresson, Antonio Méndez Esparza has created a profoundly moving portrait of a black working class family struggling to stay afloat in a world that seems stacked against them. The initial focus is on Regina (Regina Williams) as she works hard to support her family and grows increasingly concerned over the future of her 14-year-old son Andrew (Andrew Bleechington), who is in trouble for breaking into cars. Heartfelt and heartbreaking, with terrific performances from the cast of non-professional actors.
