Perfect 10
Writer/director Eva Riley makes an assured feature debut with this lyrical, heartfelt coming-of-age tale. Following the death of her mother, teenage gymnast Leigh (impressive newcomer Frankie Box) is angry, vulnerable and desperately insecure. Her neglectful father is no help. Then older half-brother Joe (Alfie Deegan) arrives at the family home. Her lonely existence is transformed. She likes the attention he gives her and the thrills of a lifestyle that revolves around fast bikes and daring crimes. The unexpected depth of their bond is captured with a soulful sensitivity.
