Glasgow Zine Fest 2021
Thu 1 April — Fri 30 April 2021
GZF programme
Highlights include a talk and workshop from Tape Letters, a project examining the use of cassette tapes as an alternative mode of long-distance communication by Pakistani and British-Pakistani families between 1960-1980. Also featured will be a panel from the organisers of Decolonise Fest, who will discuss decolonial DIY publishing as resistance, effective platforming, and challenging cultural erasure.
There will be hands-on workshops involving collaborative zine-making from performance artists Cade & MacAskill, and also a letter writing session from The Bent Bars Project, intended to connect attendees with LGBTQI+ prisoners as potential pen pals.
As a substitute for a traditional zine fair, GZF 2021 will also host a digital zine fair, where selected zine-makers from around the world will exhibit their wares in a virtual ‘hall’, and visitors can browse as if they were really there.
For the first year ever, Glasgow Zine Fest welcomes a series of events from our brand new Young Producers Programme. Since last year, the festival team have been working with young people in their local area without a traditional route into community art to provide them skills and opportunities to organise and run events that reflect their interests and experiences.
