Glasgow Zine Fest Text as an Image, Image as a Text
Sun 19 April 2020
Text as an Image, Image as a Text
This workshop will use collage, writing, and erasure to explore how we can break down the divide between text and image in zine making.
Inspired by concrete and cut up poetry techniques, as well as artists’ books such as Tom Phillips’ A Humument, we’ll be cutting and effacing text to create new visual forms of storytelling and poetry, as well as considering how to write our own creative outputs using pages / texts / images / inspiration.
This workshop is aimed at zine-ers of all levels: we’ll begin with a few quick practice exercises to get everyone comfortable before working on a final project. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring along your own book.
