Brazil: Luto pra nós é verbo
“Brazil has become the apocalyptic vanguard that signals how radical this moment is,” wrote Brazilian journalist Eliane Brum in an opinion piece for The Guardian, a week after the far-right Jair Bolsonaro settled into the country’s highest office, amidst a time of turmoil and danger for anyone and anything standing in the way of his ultra-conservative following. With the help of our friends at MOSCA, Mostra Audiovisual de Cambuquira, we have compiled a programme of recent Brazilian short films that give voice to those currently under constant threat, both the country’s minority communities and the guardians of its natural resources – the lungs of the world. Brazil’s future is our future.
