Ibero Docs Film Screening Lisbon Beat 800 ykks
We regret this event has been cancelled.
This is an exuberant documentary portrait of a city through the lives of different generations of artists from Angola, Sao Tome, Cabo Verde and Guine Bissau. Lisbon Beat (Batida de Llisboa) highlights the innovative Afro-Portuguese music scene thriving on the outskirts of Lisbon. Cinematographer Vasco Viana and Lisbon-born, London-based DJ Rita Maia depict a vibrant community of musicians and producers from diverse backgrounds each establishing their relationship to this complex city. Among many other notable figures, the film features DJ Nigga Fox, previously represented by Portugal’s Principé label, and recently signed by Sheffield’s Warp Records.
The blend of what is real and what is constructed has become a common trend in the documentary genre over the last decade. The seventh edition of the Ibero-American Documentary Film Festival in Scotland creates a safe space to open a dialogue between genres and disciplines.
