Alexander Millar: Novella

Alex Millar was selected by The Skinny and CCA as our award-winner at RSA New Contemporaries 2013, an annual survey of graduate work from Scottish art schools. The award includes an exhibition in Intermedia Gallery, along with a showcase in The Skinny in print and online.

Alex Millar’s artistic practice takes a multi-faceted approach to sculpture through the assemblage and re-animation of objects both ready-made and studio-made. His work aims at a semblance of the everyday through theatrical gestures and sculptural mise-en-scène, circumventing an entirely realist space in favour of a more poetic and often comical approach to the construction and dissolution of visual language. For his show at Intermedia, entitled Novella, Millar will present recent work developed whilst on an artist residency in Marseille.
