Sarah Rose: The Printer's Devil

The Printer's Devil is a new installation by Sarah Rose that considers practices of information proliferation and the identity of destabilised materials. Influenced by the extra-informational qualities of oral communication, the exhibition includes audio and sculptural approaches. The installation results in a series of rumours: corrupted translations, cumulative error, abstractions, and transformations.

Printing was a process once guarded in secrecy and associated with the supernatural, and a Printer’s Devil was the name given to the apprentice of the printer’s workshop. This exhibition explores issues of authorship, authenticity and decay engaging with complicated understandings of subjectivity and biography.
