Join a transformative journey with Tariqua Telahun Gorrissen into nature and earth, connecting with herbal plants in an immersive workshop. Come share knowledge, stories, and experiences, creating a space for learning and connection.
What will happen?
Sharing Circle: bring along the plant or herb that holds you in your thoughts, dreams or your life at this moment. Whether you've foraged it yourself, received it as a gift, or have it at home, each plant has its own story to tell. Through storytelling and sharing, we will explore the spiritual, medicinal, and relational aspects of nature's allies.
Tea Making: as we delve into the rich tapestry of ancient wisdom, connection and relationship to sovereign life with the natural world, how do we bring this into our lives? Together we create tea. By blending and brewing our chosen herbs, we'll not only nourish our bodies but also honour these stories we share.
Q&A and Wisdom Sharing: open dialogue and exchange of wisdom within our circle.
Who is it for?
This workshop is specifically designed for Black people and People of Colour (BPOC)**, creating a safe and supportive environment for exploration and learning. Space is limited to 10 people, so please reserve your place early and get in touch as soon as possible if you can no longer attend.
Whether you have questions about herbal practices, sustainability, or sovereignty, this is an
opportunity to learn from one another and deepen our understanding of the natural world.
About Tariqua Telahun Gorrissen
For over 30 years, Tariqua has been guided by her ancestors' ancient wisdom, rooted in Ethiopia, Africa and beyond. She learned her indigenous practice from Earth, Nature, storytelling, dreaming, sharing circles, connections, practising and remembering. She grew up in western Europe, and did her academic studies there. Her offerings are therefore a holistic collaboration of western academic knowledge and indigenous wisdom.
Her personal journey is one of continuous growth and learning, guided by knowledge and wisdom. A life filled with the experiences of loss, darkness, deep grief, struggle, challenges and also wonders, adventures, the magic of Nature and alchemy filled experiences. She is a mother of eight pregnancies and is raising five children.
Important information
This is the first of two workshops, with the second taking place at Woodlands Community on 18 May, 1-3pm, with tickets available shortly via Eventbrite. If both workshops reach capacity, you can join a waiting list for future sessions.
This workshop embodies a spirit of generosity and inclusivity, honouring our Ancestors. While the workshop is free to attend and the facilitator has been paid a fee, Tariqua encourages participants to contribute with conscious thoughts and a cash donation or tip on the day (minimum £5).
**BPOC stands for ‘Black people, People of Colour’ and is a self-identifying term. While we use the term BPOC, we acknowledge the limitations of this terminology. This includes people who identify as Black, brown, people of colour, Global Majority, mixed-race, multiple heritage and/or are from the Global South, and/or are East and South-East Asian, West Asian, Asian, African, African-Caribbean, Caribbean, Latinx, Pacific Islander, Indigenous, or First Nations, and diasporas. We use this term with the aim to address and overcome systemic barriers that people face directly or indirectly based on their ethnic or national identities, race or perceived racial identities, or the colour of their skin as per the Equality Act of 2010.
