Monuments for the Present is a participatory action research project co-created by the creative initiative Monuments for Equality (Paria Goodarzi, Mia Gubbay and Francesca Zappia) and Maryhill Integration Network’s Art Group.
In this workshop participants will work together, using clay to remake public spaces across Glasgow and explore monuments as an artistic medium. Responding to creative prompts around public spaces, cultural forms, and notions of time. Participants will collectively explore and reimagine these monuments situated across the city and consider what they mean for the people who live there.
In addition to these workshops, Monuments for the Present has an exhibition featuring work produced through a series of similar participatory action research workshops over a nine month period. You can learn more here.
