Michael White: New Myths, Modern Man
Fri 23 November — Sat 8 December 2012
New Myths Modern Man installation view 2012
Michael White’s New Myths, Modern Man will feature a number of printed banners. By juxtaposing images referencing designed obsolescence, nostalgia, industrially manufactured individualism and mythology against a back drop of patterns constructed from graffiti samples echoing tribal iconography and middle-eastern rug design, White’s new work sarcastically confronts (with self-critical futility) the often overlooked reality that notions of taste and social identity are the product of embedded ideology.
