Queering Geography: Creating Queer Maps of Glasgow

Inspired by the online community mapping project Queering the Map, these workshops are an opportunity to discuss the meaning of queer space and to create your own LGBTQ+ map of Glasgow.

The workshop will begin with an introduction to the project, followed by a group discussion about our interpretations of "queer space" and what it means to "queer the map". We will then move onto a free-form sketch mapping activity, creating our own personal queer maps of Glasgow through drawing, doodling, and collage!

I will also be making a zine of the finished maps at the end of this project. You can let me know at the workshops whether you would like your map to be included in this zine or not, it is up to you!

These workshops form part of my MSc Applied Gender Studies dissertation research. This event is only open to people who identify as LGBTQ+ and live, or have lived, in Glasgow.

The discussions had in these sessions will be recorded on a dictaphone for research purposes.

The workshop on Thursday 6th of June will be held in the Clubroom, and the workshop on Saturday 8th of June will be held in the UWS room.

Both workshops will be the same and there are a limited number of spaces for each, so please only sign up for one workshop.
