Queering Geography: Creating Queer Maps of Glasgow
Thu 6 June 2019
Queer Map workshop 4wcn
Inspired by the online community mapping project Queering the Map, these workshops are an opportunity to discuss the meaning of queer space and to create your own LGBTQ+ map of Glasgow.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to the project, followed by a group discussion about our interpretations of "queer space" and what it means to "queer the map". We will then move onto a free-form sketch mapping activity, creating our own personal queer maps of Glasgow through drawing, doodling, and collage!
I will also be making a zine of the finished maps at the end of this project. You can let me know at the workshops whether you would like your map to be included in this zine or not, it is up to you!
These workshops form part of my MSc Applied Gender Studies dissertation research. If you would like to take part, please read the participant information sheet for more details about my research and what participation involves. Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions about taking part in this research:
