Join us for an open reading group in the CCA Gallery.
White Fragility by Robin D’Angelo is a text which examines how white supremacist culture benefits white people and how a lack of capacity among white people for holding racial stress produces defensive reactions which uphold and perpetuate the status quo. It was published as a 16 page essay in 2011; the author has since written a book of the same name. It focuses on the United States but is relatable to a Scottish context. Everyone is welcome to read and/or listen. No prior reading is required.
The reading group will be split over two sessions. Attending both sessions allows for reflecting time though it is not essential.
Note: The book is written by a white author, and the reading group is facilitated by Letitia Pleiades, who is also white. A list for further reading will be available; if you can’t come but want the list please get in touch with ainslie@cca-glasgow.com.
