RESET (2020), Remember 2 Replenish.
Remember 2 Replenish is an immersive screening event that delves into the lived experiences of Black women across the African diaspora, offering a cinematic exploration of self-care and resilience. Through a carefully curated selection of films, this event serves as a powerful entry point into understanding the significance of self-care amidst the systemic challenges Black women face. The featured films highlight the often-overlooked realities of burnout, the pressure of societal expectations, and the collective journey towards healing and empowerment.
This event is more than just a screening—it is a moment of collective introspection and solidarity. We aim to create a nurturing space where Black women can come together, recognize their shared struggles, and celebrate their resilience. By doing so, Replenish not only fosters a sense of community but also reinforces the importance of reclaiming space for rest, reflection and renewal.
This is to raise awareness about the importance of self-care among Black women, particularly within the context of systemic hardships and societal pressures.
To create a dedicated space where Black Female audiences can connect, share experiences, and foster a sense of community and support.
To promote a collective acknowledgment that Black Women are not alone in their experiences, especially within Scotland, and to provide a moment of peace, rest, and mutual understanding.
The programme includes:
Savannah (drama) d. by Anita W. Addison (1989), 30m
RESET (Experimental) d. by Alberta Whittle (2020), 30m
