Who has the time to have the time of their lives?
EXTRATEMPORAL is a solo exhibition by Robert Thomas James Mills (RTJM). The exhibition is centred around an ongoing monologue where Robert personifies the concept of time as his lover and asks, “How do you break up with time?”. For the first time Robert will show an accumulation of drawings, sound and text together in an exhibition context. EXTRATEMPORAL aims to create a space for you to contemplate your own relationship with time, the universe and one another.
The exhibition is an ongoing exploration of being (out-)with (of) time, consciousness and dreams. Through rotating drawings and non-linear sound work, the exhibition space will teeter on through the personal and the cosmos. Past, present and future merge, lingering on that moment just before you go to sleep, or the second just before waking up from a vivid dream.
As part of the exhibition there will be free drop in workshops to attend. More details to follow.
Opening
Join us for an opening on Friday 2 May, 6pm - 9pm.
Artist bio
Robert Thomas James Mills is an artist, writer and rambler from Glasgow. Robert's practice often personifies the cosmos as a way to explore aspects of the human condition in relation to the universe. Robert's practice is interdisciplinary and socially engaged. Working with different community groups across Glasgow, he aims to dismantle barriers around experiencing contemporary art.
By
starting with seemingly ordinary situations, Robert's work aims to
transport audiences to new planes of existence through an
interdisciplinary practice. The work will span time frames of the
deep past and the hypothetical future with some projects having
explored notions of ancient Scottish miracles, inter-dimensional
octopuses and a walk which ended on Mars.
