Molly Nilsson
SARAMAGO and NIGHT SCHOOL Present:
MOLLY NILSSON
Molly Nilsson makes a glorious return to the CCA after sold out shows around the world. Since 2015’s Zenith, Berlin-based songwriter Molly Nilsson has surrendered to the world, traveling from Mexico to Glasgow, observing the changing socio-political landscape and imagining a better world. For an artist who has so successfully created her own environment and gradually let others in, her 8th studio album Imaginations sees Nilsson directly engaging with her surroundings, engendering change and allowing love in. Imaginations dreams big, recasting storming, stadium-sized pop into the internal language of the solo auteur. Imaginations is not escapism, it’s a kaleidoscope and an alternative view, an agent of change. One of the 21st Century's most endearing songwriters you may not have heard of, Nilsson's live performances manage to be captivating, essential experiences yet remain completely stoic in their refusal of fireworks. This is one woman's songs sung directly to the listener and it's one of the most powerful things there is.
APOSTILLE
Apostille is a moniker used by Michael Kasparis, head of Night School records and long-time Glasgow DIY activist. His own music bridges the gap between hyperactive, energetic synth punk aggression and earnest pop songwriting, the sound of an artist finding new cadences in his craft. Having released on labels like Blank Editions and Comfortable On A Tightrope, Apostille's debut LP was released on his own label in 2015 to high acclaim. Since then a dogged tour schedule and Napolean-complexed attitude to performances has sharpened his live performance to high personal theatre. This is the first Apostille Glasogw show of 2017
