Celebrate the close of harvest with seed and song!

Learn a brand new song inspired by the seed harvest, composed by local growers with songwriter Jane Lewis and taught to us by song leader Sarah Coleman.

Enjoy delicious hot soup, fresh bread and salads, and share our stories, experiences with plants, and strategies for growing in the Scottish climate.

And join a practical and hands-on session to process the seeds deposited in Glasgow Seed Library this year. Learn about different harvest techniques, dry seed winnowing, wet seed fermenting, storage and labelling.

Schedule

Drop-in when you like:
11am
- learn a seed song
12noon
- community lunch
1pm
- seed saving workshop

What to bring

If you have some, please bring your seeds to be processed: pea, bean and brassica pods should be dried and crispy for podding; tomatoes and peppers can be brought as whole fruits; squash and courgette should be left on the plant until they harden into gourds and marrows; cucumbers should be left on the vine till they mature and turn yellow, wildflower, lettuce and other seeds should be gathered as whole dried seed heads.

About the organisers

Organised by Glasgow Seed Library and hosted by Woodlands Community.

Set up over a decade ago as a community garden space in the west of Glasgow, Woodlands Community now runs a variety of spaces, programmes and events that bring people together to empower community action and foster a sense of belonging.

Glasgow Seed Library
is a collection of seeds and a community of growers. The library stocks organic and open-pollinated vegetable, herb and flower seeds for everyone to borrow, grow and save. Throughout the year, Glasgow Seed Library organises free workshops, talks and events around seed skills, community growing and earth care.

Accessibility

Woodlands Meeting Room and Terrace is fully wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet. Please email glasgowseedlibrary@cca-glasgow.com to make an access request.
