Universal Recognition Movement & Doughnut Economics Scotland Network

Doughnut Economics Scotland Network & the Universal Recognition (UR) Movement are hosting a Shaping Fairer Futures event for you and your community. We will be bringing together creatives, marginalised communities, allies and industry experts who want to create fairer futures for all in Scotland. Bring your pals, colleagues and collaborators for an easygoing day of creativity and action towards better tomorrows. Everyone is warmly welcome to join in!

The event is part of Global Donut Days 2024 where local communities around the world will be exploring ideas that are safer for people and the planet. The event is funded and supported by Doughnut Economics Action Lab. The Universal Recognition movement is a network of Disabled creatives and accessibility advisors passionate about making the future more accessible and fit for us all. The Doughnut Economics Scotland network is a community of organisers in Scotland who bring folks from local communities together to create more sustainable and just futures.

At 3:00 pm, the CCA Theatre will be open for:

An afternoon of accessible workshops and discussion. Activities will have been shaped by members of the UR movement alongside our co- organisers and allies. This will be an afternoon of easygoing opportunities to mix and share ideas for fairer futures together. We want to create the chance for everyone to make connections that will help grow your accessible, fair and sustainable ideas. You never know who you might meet or what you might create together!

There will be a social break from 5:15 pm - 6:30 pm where folks are encouraged to rest and get refreshments in the CCA bar or take a dinner break

At 6:30 pm everyone will be welcomed back to the Theatre for:

An evening of music, spoken word, comedy and ideas from marginalised artists. The event will be headlined by highland clarsach player and musician Grace Stewart-Skinner It will be an evening to build community bonds and enjoy folks music and musings! An opportunity to rest, recharge and connect on the issues that really matter to us.

This event is for you if you:

- Are from a marginalised community and you want to create change!
- Have never been to an event like this before!
- Want to connect with others who care about community, climate and Disability justice
- Are working in or researching climate, social, Disability and economic justice
- Are working in or studying Design, Innovation, Tech, UX or service design
- Are part of an organisation or business that wants to learn more about accessibility and sustainability
- Are looking to fund new innovation initiatives in accessibility and sustainability

Often disabled and marginalised folks do not have access to networking and social change spaces - we are shaping an event that aims to change this. We want folks to build meaningful connections that last long into the future. We know change is possible when we build community. We know accessibility improves when folks experiencing marginalisation get to imagine and shape decisions. We know innovation happens when we connect people with differing life experiences - your ideas matter!

Come join us for a day of connection and creativity!

Accessibility

The day will open with a quiet guided orientation and touch tour of the space at 3:00 pm for blind, visually impaired and Neurodivergent attendees. Folks will have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the layout of the Theatre, what sensory experiences to expect and schedule of activities before the rest of the attendees arrive. General public admittance to the space will be at 3:30 pm.

There will be an opportunity for accessible networking. Throughout the event we invite attendees to share:
Your contact details
Project ideas
Organisation/community details
Who you are hoping to connect with

What resources, funding or services you offer

You are welcome to share these by:
Writing your details down on our networking wall
