Sorting seed at The People's Pantry, 2021
How do we care for seeds? And what do seeds have to do with climate change?
Join a gentle gathering with Glasgow Seed Library. Together, we’ll be sieving, drying, processing and labelling this year’s deposited seeds.
The meditative process of seed sorting helps connect us to our ancestors and to future generations. Against the backdrop of COP26, we will discuss how seed libraries can help us attend and adapt to the changing weather, as well as support efforts for climate justice.
This event is for anyone curious about growing locally, food security and seed sharing, and taking small but powerful actions in response to climate change. You are welcome to bring harvested seed to deposit in the library.
Glasgow Seed Library
Organised by Glasgow Seed Library, as part of the Encampment of Eternal Hope by Walker & Bromwich, reimagined at The Briggait for COP26. The Encampment is an immersive environment, forming a central hub for creative fringe activities throughout COP26.
Glasgow Seed Library is a collection of seeds and a community of growers. Hosted by CCA, the library stocks organic and open-pollinated vegetable, herb and flower seeds for everyone to borrow, grow and save. Throughout the year, Glasgow Seed Library runs free workshops, talks and events around seed saving, community growing, food sovereignty and earth care
