Sound Thought 2018 Signal Festival Broch z9cr
Sound Thought is an annual festival of music and sound research, composition, and performance run by postgraduate students from the University of Glasgow.
The theme, ‘Signal,’ will be explored by exhibiting installations and performances in the CCA gallery spaces, contextualized by the following subthemes:
Signs of change -
Signalling new forms of expression in music and the arts; cultural trends
Communication and protest -
New methods of communication and collaboration in the face of adversity
Analog and digital signals -
Developments in technology and their integration into practice and research
During the festival, four new works by pairs of composers and visual artists will be premiered by Glasgow New Music Expedition.
Sound Thought draws artists, researchers, and practitioners from across the UK and internationally, and is particularly concerned with establishing dialogue and collaboration between academic institutions and broader arts communities.
Sound Thought: Signal will return in February 2019 for a series of concerts, screenings, performances, and discussions which will build upon the dialogues created in the November event.
