SQIFF Diane Torr Tribute: Man For A Day
Sun 1 October 2017
Diane Torr3 74wi
The worldwide stage appearances and workshops of gender activist and performance artist Diane Torr are legendary. For over thirty years, the focus of Diane’s work was an exploration of the theoretical, artistic, and practical aspects of gender identity. Director Katarina Peters observes a Berlin workshop taught by Diane, in which a group of open- minded women come together to discover the secrets of masculinity. What makes a man a man and a woman a woman? Precisely when and where is gender identity created? How much is nature and how much nurture? With an introduction celebrating the life and work of artist, activist, and educator, Diane Torr, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
BSL interpretation will be available for the introduction, with the film screening with English language subtitles.
