Fri 29 September 2017
SQIFF
‘The gaze’ is a term used in visual media to mean the way viewers look at images and onscreen characters look at each other, traditionally in critique of male-centred and patriarchal movie- making. So what happens when the act of looking in films is queered? Featuring Campbell X’s new experimental short, DES!RE, foregrounding lust for masc AFAB people, The Naked Body, in which a director documents how people relate to nudity and their own body, and Harding & his camera, an ambiguous ‘love story’ told through the 1930s archive of a British archaeologist in Palestine.
Screening with English language subtitles on all films featured in this programme. SQIFF 2017 tickets are priced on a sliding scale; please choose what to pay based on your circumstances. We ask that you be honest with yourself and your financial situation; we will not ask for any proof of your income. For more info on SQIFF's sliding ticket scale click here.
