Two phenomenally talented artists making a profound impression on the contemporary Gaelic scene will perform a powerful set of new songs they have created for this year’s ‘Sradagan na Sràide / Street Sparks’ event. Marcas Mac an Tuairneir is an award-winning poet, writer and performer. One of Gaeldom’s most exciting emergent singer-songwriters, he won the awards for best new Gaelic song at the 2018 Royal National Mòd and the 2020 Virtual Mòd. He was a Gold Medal finalist at the 2016 Mòd and Traditional Gold Medal finalist in 2019. Composer, sound artist and arranger Ross Whyte creates musical soundscapes which have featured in the worlds of dance, theatre, film and digital arts. He is well known to Ceòl is Craic regulars as one half of the Gaelic ambient electronica duo Whyte.

Sradagan na Sràide is a five-year collaboration between Ceòl is Craic and Comhairle nan Leabhraichean (Gaelic Books Council) to provide a platform for the best musical and literary talents in Scottish/Gaelic arts to create a new collection of Gaelic songs for today’s urban Gael.

Completing the line-up is DLÙ. This young Glasgow trad-fusion band combines rock, classical and funk influences with exhilarating traditional tunes and Gaelic song. The band has just released its debut album “Moch’ to rave reviews.
