Tender Gardens
“I am reminded that plant taxonomy is not a great distance from poetry” - Jessica J. Lee
Want to describe the garden otherwise? Join writers Nina Mingya Powles and Jessica J. Lee in an online workshop exploring different ways of approaching plants, personal stories and the worlds we inhabit together.
Nina Mingya Powles is a poet and writer, and author of the Nan Shepherd Prize-winning Small Bodies of Water, a stunning work of memoir and nature writing which explores themes of girlhood, migration, relation to place and self.
Jessica J. Lee's latest book Dispersals: On Plant, Borders, and Belonging melds memoir and environmental history to reflect on the entanglement of plants and humans: how we shape landscape and landscape in turn shapes us.
All participants will have the opportunity to produce their own writing, to be included in a publication produced by Glasgow Seed Library later in the summer.
Tickets are free, and no prior writing experience is required! Email glasgowseedlibrary@cca-glasgow.com to book a place and receive the Zoom link.
If you would like to read either of the authors' books beforehand, you can find copies for purchase at Aye-Aye Books, CCA.
This workshop is part of a series curated by Glasgow Seed Library’s 2024 researcher in residence, Tilly Nevin, and supported by Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities.
