Oceanallover welcomes you to The Self Assembled
The Self Assembled is an immersive evening of theatre performance and a unique moment in the particular, peculiar and creative life of Tracy Alexander Rigg and his marvelously talented friends. Eating, drinking, dressing-up, looking and un-looking, discussing, discoursing, dancing, listening and experiencing this celebratory event should not be missed!
Transporting the audience through three decades, The Self Assembled is a cocktail of movement, costume and performance celebrating decades of the wondrous work of Oceanallover, transforming from one entity to the next through chapters from shows including Ecdysis (In Vivo) (2020-21), Sea Hames (2017-19), Orographic (2018-19) and Transfigured (2010-20). The event will also showcase a fragment of our new work ‘The Scales of the World’ which features a costume collaboration with legendary couturier Mr Pearl. And original music by composer Richard Luke, working in collaboration with Oceanallover’s Breezy Lee and Alex Rigg.
Rails of unique costume will be released from the vaults of the studio, each bearing a complex history embedded into the cloth. The audience will be invited to wear the work, should they be feeling bold, and some pieces will be available to acquire - through a pledge of cash or an proposition.
In addition the event will feature live performances created by Fionnuala Dorrity, Dylan Read, Suzi Cunningham and Jen Cunningham, Laura Victoria Ward and Philip Alexander Mcdonald and more. We will present a Slam Poetry event curated by Carlos Hernan and wig-making from the very unique Lesley Moses.
Iron Aye HiFi will be bringing exciting sub-bass dance tunes to finish the evening. Brought to you by Vixen Sound (aka Phoebe I-H), a dub, reggae and dancehall selector & MC. Cutting her own path through sound-system music with tuff selections; the management of 3 club nights; and working alongside Mungo's HiFi and Sinai Sound as well as presenting BBC Introducing.
Oceanallover
Over the past three years Oceanallover have achieved a significant boost to their public visibility through the development of new partnerships and presentation opportunities. This has included showcasing work Sea Hames (2017-19) and Orographic (2018-19) as part of high profile platforms such as Dance International Glasgow, Manipulate Festival and the Dance Base Fringe Programme and Glasgow 2018, as well as touring the work to a broad spectrum of Scottish communities. A commission from the European Championships in 2018 offered the company the chance to showcase the unique brand of outdoor performance to global audiences, and recent presentations of Transfigured and Ecdysis have further augmented this process. Design from these projects was represented in the exhibition “Staging Places” being hosted at the V&A in London as part of the British Society of Theatre Designers showcase; his work was one of only two Scottish designers represented.
Ecdysis (In Vivo) is their latest project and in 2022 will include costume collaboration with world renowned Couturier Mr Pearl and New York sensation Joey Arias working alongside Breezy Lee.
The Ecdysis project also features a significant body of new work from leading Dubstep and Electronic Music Producers including Pinch, Silkie, Sepia, Lost, Mako and N-Type.
