We are delighted to collaborate with Scottish Documentary Institute (SDI) to present a screening and panel discussion focusing on the representation of women’s bodies and illness in documentary, with a specific focus on endometriosis. The screening features three raw, thought-provoking and evocative short documentaries that explore the filmmakers’ personal experiences with endometriosis and their interactions with the medical system, including Erica Monde’s There’s Not Much We Can Do, Georgie Wileman’s This is Endometriosis and Bonnie MacRae’s All Up There.

Endometriosis is a highly invasive, systemic disorder affecting almost 1 in 9 women. The disease is severely under-researched, under diagnosed and rarely spoken about. This screening and panel discussion aims to open up the conversation on the gaps in healthcare provision and in mainstream discourse, as well as to explore the challenges of making personal documentaries on this topic. We will be joined by Erica Monde and Bonnie MacRae for a panel discussion on the day followed by a Q&A with the audience!
