The Walking Library for Women Walking

The Walking Library is an ongoing art project by Dee Heddon & Misha Myers that explores walking and books. Since the eighteenth-century people have walked with books (Keats with Dante’s Divine Comedies, Muir with Burns’ poetry and Milton’s Paradise Lost). Each Walking Library starts with a question (e.g. ‘What book would you take for a walk?’).

For The Walking Library for Women Walking, the question we asked was ‘What book would you give to a woman walking?’ We’ve received more than 100 donations, ranging from artists’ books, to biographies and autobiographies, to histories and narratives.

These books are ready to be taken on a walk. Join us as we wander and wonder and collectively read our way through the streets of Glasgow. You can pick a book from our Library to carry with you or you can bring a book you’d like to donate to the Library after the walk.

Everyone welcome.

The Walking Library for Women Walking will be donated to Glasgow Women’s Library.

Accessibility information: The event is a 90 minute walk outside and will take place irrespective of the weather. Participants should dress for the weather. The walk will be accessible but might involve hills.
