The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing | dir. Theo Panagopoulos (2024)

CinemaAttic is proud to collaborate with the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign to present a short film night in aid of two fantastic organisations. With films ranging from drama and documentary to fantasy and romance, this event celebrates the diversity of Palestinian cinema while drawing attention to the brutality of the Israeli occupation and its effects on the Palestinian people.

The ticket profits from this event will be split equally between the Amplify Gaza Community Resilience Projects Fund and Plant a Tree in Palestine, two organisations whose work remains more vital than ever in the face of the ongoing genocide.

The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing
Theo Panagopoulos | 17 min | 2024
BAFTA nominee – best short film 2025
When a Glasgow-based filmmaker of Palestinian descent unearths a rarely-seen Scottish film archive of Palestinian wildflowers, he decides to reclaim the footage. This tender film essay questions the role of image-making as a tool of both testimony and violence when connected to entanglements between people and the land.

Palestine Islands

Julien Menanteau & Nour Ben Salem | 23 min | 2023
Maha, 12, is part of the last generation of Palestinian refugees from the Balata camp. After her blind grandfather passes out in the street, she imagines a crazy project for when he wakes up: to make him believe that the wall of separation has fallen and that a return to his native land is possible. With the help of her friends from the camp, the young girl takes him on a whirlwind trip.

Your Father Was Born 100 Years Old, and So Was the Nakba

Razan AlSalah | 7 min | 2018
A grandmother returns to her hometown of Haifa through Google Streetview. Today, this is the only way Palestinian refugees can see Palestine.

The Key

Rakan Mayasi | 18 min | 2023
An Israeli family’s equilibrium gradually disintegrates as a mysterious sound is heard every evening at the door of their apartment.

Bonboné

Rakan Mayasi | 15 min | 2017
A Palestinian couple resorts to an unusual way to conceive as the husband is detained in an Israeli jail where visits are restricted.

Vibrations from Gaza
Rehab Nazzal | 16 min | 2023

This short offers a glimpse into the lives of deaf children in the besieged and occupied Gaza Strip. Through the voices of children who have grown up under the relentless blockade and repeated Israeli aggression, it vividly conveys how they experience the bombings, destruction, and drone buzz overhead.
