What About Human Rights post-Brexit? A Collaborative Workshop with Anika Marschall
Tue 6 November 2018
Anika is inviting people from across Glasgow and beyond to take part in a collective recitation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in memory of Monica Ross, a feminist performance artist with a lasting legacy of political engagement. Ross started the project "Anniversary - Acts of Memory" in which various persons, groups and collaborators recite the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, word by word from memory. I invite everyone to come and join me in learning one article of the Declaration and recite it together in public, in your own language (including BSL and others).
Everyone is welcome!
This workshop provides the opportunity to think about human rights and performance, to learn more about Monica Ross' work and to memorise one article of the Declaration and perform it together in public. The workshop will also open space for discussing feminist and postcolonial critique of human rights and the potential repeal of the Human Rights Act in UK as consequence of Brexit.
